Dan Doodle Country Sausage
Ever tasted a Dan Doodle Sausage? If not, you've missed a down-home country treat
When I was a youngster, Dan Doodles were one of the country-cured meats I helped PopPop deliver throughout rural Southside Virginia. A Dan Doodle (or Tom Thumb) is a unique, hickory-smoked sausage with natural casing we still sell today, mostly in rural areas. A few years back, I introduced my father-in-law, Dan (a city guy) to Dan Doodles...and he loved them so much, he now gives them to special friends as gifts for the Holidays and special occassions.
So whether you were country- or city- reared, there's a good chance you'll love this classic Southern sausage, too. Just cut into slices and fry like sausage patties...or cook as seasoning meat with collard greens or green beans. (I get hungry just telling you about it!) Total weight 3-5 lbs.

I'm now 60, grew up in the Petersbury area, and still remember my grandmother cooking her greens with a piece of side-meat or fatback and a piece of Dan Doodle in the pot. The Dan Doodle added flavor you would not believe. It was absolutely delicious. She would also place some white potatoes in the pot along with some cornmeal dumplings and we had a whole meal. That was real cooking. Glad to know that your company still offers the old time favorites.
